Description
Recently, one of my father's war time diaries came to light. He was a Commando and it describes one of his missions in the Far East. Some of it is heavy reading, but in the back of the diary, we found some poems that he had written whilst on his ship. This particular poem (At the Ballalaika) I thought lent itself to a musical interpretation. The Ballalalika was obviously some sort of café my father visited which he seemed to like. I have done all the parts myself - composing, playing and singing - and framed copies of the poem plus a cd of the song are going to my mother and my father's sister for Christmas this year. Dad died around 30 years ago, so it's quite an emotional present! It also seems inappropriate to try and sell something like this, so it's being offered free for anyone who would care to try it.
